Some things in life you do not choose. They happen to you. And then, whether you want it or not, they form you.
I carried a serious illness through my childhood into my teenage years. The full story is in why i build, and it belongs there, not here. What belongs here is what it left behind: the knowledge that you have to fight, that the first person you must learn to talk to is yourself, and that life is too short to spend it pleasing people who do not care about you.
Calls, not accidents
I am convinced that experiences like these are wake-up calls from the universe. Not romantic in the moment. Brutal in the moment. But they are the challenges that prepare you, consciously, for the external ones that come later: the failed project, the broken partnership, the year where nothing moves. The dark phases
In business the same law holds. The darkest phases, the darkest nights, the coldest winters: that is where you see what people are truly made of, who means it and who does not. I learned to love those moments. Not because they are pleasant, but because they are honest. Comfort hides character. Pressure reveals it.So my advice is simple: do not waste a wake-up call. Write down what it changed in you. Keep the fire it lit. The point of surviving a hard phase is not to forget it. The point is to build with it.
