Too euphoric
Looking back after some years, I have to be honest with myself: I often went into things too euphoric. I rushed partnerships. I signed fast, promised big and celebrated the start before there was substance. Euphoria felt like momentum. It was noise.My mistakes
I went into projects and promised too much, and then could not keep everything I had promised. That debt does not land on the project plan. It lands on trust. And I trusted blindly where trust was not yet earned. I sat across from older, more experienced people and assumed that experience automatically means responsibility: that they would manoeuvre, steer, warn me. That assumption was mine. Watch the actions, not only the words. What someone does is the message; what someone says is the packaging. A promise without a date is a mood. Euphoria at the start of a partnership is a signal to slow down, not to speed up. And trust is not declared, it is deposited: in small commitments that are kept, one after the other.Honesty as method
The core of it all is being able to stand by yourself and say the uncomfortable sentence. This is not working. I cannot deliver this by then. I was wrong. Said early, that sentence is respect, because it gives the other side time to act. Said late, it is damage control. I have never once regretted a clear sentence. I have often regretted a vague one.None of this is a complaint about others. My communication had to grow up too. That is the real point: communication and trust are the same muscle, and both are trained by mistakes.
