My formative enterprise years were spent building Salesforce solutions for non-profits — global NGOs and foundations whose systems manage donors, volunteers, programmes and aid across continents. Certified as a non-profit cloud consultant, educated by the sector itself.
Non-profits are the most demanding software clients I know: donated budgets, public accountability, untrained volunteer users, and data where a record can decide a family's eligibility for help. You learn frugality, auditability and human-proof design — or you fail visibly.
I also carry the sector personally: board work at the Diaspora Economic Forum, and cultural projects from migration life-stories with Swiss universities to diaspora institutions in Paris. The mechanics of mission-driven organisations — funding, volunteers, legitimacy — are ones I navigate from the inside.
The essay What NGOs Taught Me About Software goes deeper. The sector shaped my engineering ethics more than any corporate role.
